Director, Producer, Choreographer & Community Arts Leader
Founder of MProductionTime2show CIC

Maria Slack is an experienced Director, Producer, Choreographer and community arts leader with over 20 years of experience in dance, drama, carnival performing arts, teaching and creative project management. As the founder of MProductionTime2show CIC (MPT2S), Maria is passionate about using the arts to bring people together, nurture creative talent and create inclusive opportunities for people from all walks of life.

Throughout her career, Maria has developed and delivered dance and drama projects, choreographed performances, taught young people and adults, and managed creative projects for major events, including the Queen’s Jubilee, regional carnivals and theatre productions across the UK.

Following her move to Derby, Maria continued to develop her creative practice and began teaching GCSE Dance at Merrill College, alongside teaching opportunities in junior and secondary schools across the East Midlands. Her work has also included delivering To Reach for the Stars, a performance presented at the Royal Assembly Rooms.

Maria later established the dance group Scratch, which went on to open local community events and achieve success in carnival competitions, winning recognition for its dancers both on the procession route and on stage. Her experience also extends to drama workshops, theatre collaborations, choreography, costume design and supporting emerging community arts projects.

Through MProductionTime2show CIC, Maria has built a diverse and passionate creative community, bringing together participants aged 8 to 60 from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures and beliefs, including LGBTQ+ people, migrants and refugees. Together, they have performed at carnivals, festivals, cultural celebrations and community events throughout the East Midlands, showcasing energetic dance routines and vibrant, handmade carnival costumes.

Maria is committed to making the arts accessible and welcoming. Her work includes developing creative workshops for schools and community settings, using dance, drama and artistic expression to encourage confidence, support mental wellbeing, develop skills and strengthen community connections.

As a collaborative leader, Maria recognises the importance of nurturing the talents of others and building teams that share ideas, contribute creatively and help organisations grow sustainably. She continues to work alongside theatre groups, artists, educators and community organisations in a variety of capacities, including performance, choreography, creative development and project delivery.

Maria’s vision is to continue creating meaningful opportunities for people to discover their potential, celebrate their identities, develop their creativity and feel a sense of belonging through the performing arts.

Creating opportunities for ALL.
